Did you know that...
Like just about anything else, painting is a skill you can learn? Actually- not just learn, but become really, really good at.
At a young age, we either decide or are told what we are and are not "good" at as individuals. We inherit and develop labels and beliefs about ourselves, and then we wear those labels around and proclaim them to be true; allowing them to limit the lives we lead.
"I'm not very academic. Doing well in school was a struggle for me."
"I'm just not the 'sporty' type. Math is more my thing."
"I'm good at ______, but not ______."
What if I were to tell you that the stories we have about ourselves and the labels we're assigned aren't actually true? That learning to paint big, beautiful landscapes (and find peace-of-mind, contentment & alignment in the process) had nothing to do with your current skill level, or your self-proclaimed lack thereof?
What if there was a step-by-step process you could learn to master the art of landscape painting (provided, of course, that you're willing to let go of the story that you can't)?
Did you ALSO know that...

In what feels like another lifetime ago, I was a high school art teacher. In fact, creating works of art has been a lifelong love affair of mine, one that largely inspired my desire to build an abundant life through doing just that-- creating.
Long before I became an entrepreneur and business owner, I was an artist. With a Bachelors degree (BA) in visual arts, a Bachelors of Teaching degree (BEd) in visual arts, and a former career teaching art inside a classroom, it feels like there has never been a better time to virtually share my entire painting process and allow it to provide others with the excitement, peace-of-mind and stress relief that we ALL so badly need right now.

Over the next 8 weeks, you will...
-
Learn the step-by-step, start-to-finish process of painting beautiful landscapes
-
Develop or level-up your skill as a painter (yes, you'll be calling yourself that by the end!)
-
Experience first-hand the peace-of-mind and therapeutic satisfaction of putting brush to canvas, while quieting the noise & stress of the outside world
-
Learn how to visually interpret an image to create a life-like final piece
-
Use painting techniques including layering (background, middleground, foreground), dry brushing and colour theory to create a gorgeous painting you can't believe YOU were the artist of
-
Gain the painting skills, processes and product-knowledge needed to start and build your at-home practice (2020 quarantine winter, what up?)
Here's how it'll work + everything you need to know about painting Landscapes with Lo:
There's never been a better (or more necessary) time to learn a new (lockdown-friendly) skill, or find yourself a new creative outlet. Painting is incredibly therapeutic. As you zone out of the "real world" and into your piece, life becomes simpler. The craziness of this year gets quieter. The stress and anxiety that so many of us have been carrying, gets lighter.
While creating something beautiful is gratifying, my mission in creating this 8-week class is to provide its participants with a safe space to go within, to find peace-of-mind and confidence that comes with creating, and to have fun along the way.
The goal is not the destination. The goal is enjoying the journey, and finding sanctuary and satisfaction within each day, no matter the unpredictable circumstances surrounding us.
the process:
Inside the 8-weeks of Landscapes with Lo, I will lead you through my start-to-finish process of painting a medium to large-scale landscape piece. Equipped with the understanding and know-how needed to breakdown any image and transfer it onto canvas, you'll learn first-hand that painting, like almost anything else, is a skill that can be learned (or built upon), even if you have zero prior experience.
In the time lapse video below you can watch the "layering" technique (background --> middleground --> foreground) that I use and teach to help make creating gorgeous pieces methodical.
Painting isn't just something you either know how to do or you don't. It's a process that can be learned, implemented and built upon to paint gorgeous works of art (yes, YOU!).
student work:
The paintings below were completed by past students who had never before painted landscapes. They followed the step-by-step process we'll be implementing together inside the weekly "classrooms" and ended up with beautiful pieces as a result.

the curricular breakdown:
Weekly classrooms or "studio time" as I'm calling it, will be 90 minutes in length and move around time-wise each week to accommodate different timezones (don't worry, you'll gain lifetime access to the replays if you can't always join live). In the first 15-30 minutes of each classroom I'll be walking through/demonstrating the weekly teachings described below, and then spending the remaining time helping you implement those teachings. Come ready to paint (the painting set-up video is provided upon signing up!), put some music on and enjoy the process of watching your piece come to life alongside the other artists in the (Zoom) room.
